President Trump is expressing concern over escalating violence in northern Syria’s Afrin district.
He is urging Turkey to limit military activity in the region.

The president spoke with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan via telephone Wednesday, and doubled down on calls to work together to stabilize Syria.
This comes as U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces reject a claim by Turkey that ISIS is present in the Afrin region.
Turkey launched an offensive into the region on Saturday, attacking U.S.-backed Kurdish fighters near its southern border.
On Tuesday, Turkey reported killing 260 combatants with no civilian casualties.
