China Is Staying Silent On North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un’s Alleged Trip To Beijing

China is staying silent on whether North Korea’s Kim Jong Un visited Beijing.
On Tuesday, the country’s foreign ministry spokeswoman said she has no idea if the dictator took a trip to China.
The comments come after reports suggested Kim made the visit Monday, which would be his first known trip out of North Korea since taking power in 2011.
Extra security was seen around the chinese capital Tuesday, with roads being blocked off around main streets.

Authorities also cleared tourists from an area where important meetings with foreign leaders generally take place.
White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah responded to reports of the trip during Monday’s briefing.
“We can’t confirm those reports, we don’t know if they’re necessarily true,” stated Raj Shah. “What I’ll just state, though, is that, you know, where we are with North Korea is in a better place than we used to be, because the President’s maximum pressure campaign, in conjunction with dozens of countries around the world, has paid dividends and has brought the North Koreans to the table — so we’re looking forward to a potential summit some months in advance.”
Besides Beijing’s foreign ministry, neither the Chinese or North Korean government has made any statements regarding the potential trip.
