Defense Secretary Mattis: U.S. Stands With Allies On Salisbury Incident

Defense Secretary James Mattis reiterated the U.S.’s support for its allies in the wake of the expulsion of Russian diplomats.
Secretary Mattis said the move comes as a coordinated NATO response to the nerve agent poisoning of a Russian exile in the U.K earlier this month.

He condemned the attack as a violation of international agreements.
Secretary Mattis also highlighted America’s commitment to the rule of law and a rules-based order.
His comments come after some 100 Russian diplomats were expelled from the U.S. and several European capitals early Monday.
“Whether it be North Korea using a weapon of mass destruction somewhere, or any other country, we are against the use of mass, weapons of mass destruction, especially when there are violations of the treaty — notably when there are violations of the treaty,” stressed Secretary Mattis.
High-ranking White House officials also said the Kremlin’s intelligence operations in the U.S. have intensified in the recent months.
