A suspicious item found in a passenger’s checked luggage causes major delays for travelers in Florida.
It happened at the Pensacola International Airport Tuesday morning when crews were looking through bags using x-ray screening.
A cylinder-shaped device prompted an emergency response including flight suspension for several hours, and an evacuation of parts of the airport.
It was later determined the luggage of a passenger headed to South Korea contained a ball bering tester used in wind turbines.
Officials say a language barrier complicated the matter after three passengers were detained for questioning.
Flights have resumed and an investigation is underway.
