The chairman of New York’s Conservative Party is speaking out against Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to give convicted felons the right to vote.
Mike Long has said Cuomo’s plan is illegal, adding he’s only doing it to get ahead of his primary challenger. The Democrat governor announced Wednesday he will sign an executive order to give all convicted felons on parole in New York the right to vote.
The order would effect more than 36,000 parolees, half of which live in New York City. According to the state’s law, parolees can only vote when they get off supervision.
