President Trump is calling out China for taking advantage of American free trade by pointing out the large tariffs Beijing puts on American cars.
In a tweet Monday, he said the United States only places 2.5-percent tariff on auto imports from China, but cars exported from the U.S. into China pay around 25-percent in tariffs.
When a car is sent to the United States from China, there is a Tariff to be paid of 2 1/2%. When a car is sent to China from the United States, there is a Tariff to be paid of 25%. Does that sound like free or fair trade. No, it sounds like STUPID TRADE - going on for years!
White House officials have said a trade war with China may benefit the American economy.
Meanwhile, China is escalating its attack on the Trump administration’s proposed tariffs, saying they are not willing to negotiate under “current circumstances.”
Chinese government officials made the announcement Monday after President Trump expressed optimism that Beijing would remove its trade barriers.
Last week, the president upped his suggested tariffs after China proposed its own $50 billion tariff package in retaliation of the proposal.

Despite the disagreement, the president says he remains hopeful he will reach a fair deal on trade with the Asian nation.
