The suspect accused of fatally shooting a Maine sheriff corporal is finally captured, ending a four day manhunt.
29-year-old John Daniel Williams was found outside a remote camp in Norridgewock Saturday.
Officials say Williams put up some resistance, but was taken into custody with the handcuffs belonging to the fallen Corporal Eugene Cole.
Williams allegedly gunned down Corporal Cole Wednesday morning and allegedly stole his cruiser before robbing a local convenience store.
The multi-day manhunt involved more than 200 federal, state and local law enforcement officials.
Williams was considered armed and dangerous and officials were offering a $20,000 reward for any information leading to his arrest.
Williams had a multi state criminal history and faced several charges including including carrying a firearm without a license.
Authorities say he will likely make his first court within the next few days.
Corporal Cole’s funeral is scheduled for May 7.
