Illinois Officer Honored At High School Graduation After Stopping Shooting

A school resource officer at an Illinois high school is being celebrated after stopping a shooting during graduation practice just days ago.
Officer Mark Dallas received a standing ovation during the Dixon High School graduation in Lee County over the weekend after halting a potential massacre last week.
Several graduating seniors spoke during the ceremony, citing the officer’s heroic acts for the reason 182 students were able to graduate. They dubbed him their “hero,” saying the graduation would not be the same celebration without his presence.
Each senior shook officer Dallas’ hand while walking across the stage to receive their diploma.

His son was among the graduates, who said his father “took the whole school under his wing.”
The ceremony was monitored with strict security, and everyone was subject to search. No backpacks or large bags were allowed.
This comes just days after 19-year-old Matthew Milby brought a firearm to a graduation rehearsal.
Officer Dallas shot the suspect after Milby fired at a weightlifting coach. Reports claim students ran for their lives as Officer Dallas mitigated the threat. The suspect was the only person injured in the shooting, suffering no serious injuries.
“milby” is currently in jail on fire arm charges… with bail set at two million dollars. He is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
