The governor of Florida issues a state of emergency for all 67 counties ahead of Subtropical Storm Alberto.
Governor Rick Scott says the declaration was to ensure the state has the resources it need to keep families both safe and prepared.
The State Emergency Operation Center urged residents to take the storm seriously.
Alberto is moving slowly through the Caribbean sea threatening to bring heavy rainfall, mudslides and flash floods to parts of Mexico, Cuba, Florida and the U.S. Gulf Coast.
Scott says the state’s National Guard will deploy more than 5,000 members if needed.
Florida isn’t alone, as Mississippi and Alabama have also been forced to declare a state of emergency.
