U.S. Press Secretary: North Korea’s Threat To Back Out Of Talks Fully Expected

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders responded to North Korea’s recent threat to possibly walk away from the upcoming summit with President Trump.
Earlier Wednesday, Sanders said the administration believes the summit is important and hopes it does happen.
However, she also said the White House does have a plan in case North Korea decides to back out of the talks.
“The president is very used to and ready for tough negotiations and if they want to meet, we’ll be ready and if they don’t, that’s okay too,” said Sanders. “We’ll continue with a campaign of maximum pressure if that is the case, but, like I just said, if they want to meet the president will certainly be ready and we will be prepared and if not.”
Sanders also expressed complete confidence in President Trump’s negotiating ability.
This May 7, 2018, satellite images provided by DigitalGlobe shows the nuclear test site in Punggye-ri, North Korea. North Korea on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
As North Korea back pedals on the scheduled summit with President Trump, doubts loom over the regime’s intentions as increased activity is seen at their nuclear site.
Satellite images show the dismantling of what experts believe to be offices and structures around the nuclear test site.
This comes ahead of the planned detonation of the tunnels leading to the site.
Pyongyang’s threat to back out of the deal is leading some experts to suspect North Korea is seeking to hide details about its nuclear capabilities.
