Trump Administration Hits Canada, Mexico, EU With Steel And Aluminum Tariffs

President Trump is imposing steel and aluminum tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and the European Union.
The highly anticipated move was announced Thursday by Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, who is wrapping up a two-day meeting with EU officials.
The 25-percent levy on steel and 10-percent tariff on aluminum will go into effect at midnight.
Ross said the U.S. will determine its next steps after seeing reactions from its allies.
The trading partners are expected to retaliate, and have threatened to impose tariffs on U.S. exports.
This comes after U.S. and EU trade officials spent two months trying to reach an agreement to create a tariff exemption for European countries.

Meanwhile, the White House also announced it may also introduce new tariffs on Chinese imports as well as restrictions on intellectual property — a move that would make good on promises President Trump made during his campaign.
Washington and Beijing are set to resume talks on trade this week, and officials promise the final details will be announced on June 15.
