President Trump is in Brussels, where he is set to meet with NATO allies.
This comes amid the president’s ramped-up pressure on member nations to increase their contributions to the defense budget.
In a tweet Monday, the president stressed the majority of NATO allies have failed to meet their commitments to contribute two-percent of GDP to the budget.
Many countries in NATO, which we are expected to defend, are not only short of their current commitment of 2% (which is low), but are also delinquent for many years in payments that have not been made. Will they reimburse the U.S.?
President Trump suggested such member states should reimburse the U.S. for being delinquent on their obligations for years.
This comes as only five members of NATO — the U.S., U.K., Greece, Estonia and Poland — have met their budget commitments to the alliance.
Last year, U.S. spending made up for 67-percent of the NATO budget.

President Trump stressed he intends to remodel the U.S.-European relations to end the unfair trade practices, and balance-out the transatlantic security cooperation.
