Senate Republicans are on pace to break the record for the most appellate court judges confirmed during the president’s first two years.
Majority leader Mitch McConnell has Senate votes planned for two circuit court nominations this week.
There’s Andrew Oldham for the 5th Circuit and Ryan Bounds for the 9th Circuit.
If either of those two get confirmed, it would give President Trump his 23rd appeals court judge, which would set the record.
For comparison, President Obama had 16 circuit court nominees confirmed by the Senate during his first two years.
Republicans have made judicial confirmations a priority, in hopes of shaping the direction of U.S. courts for decades.
