Biden Slips, Appears To Announce 2020 Bid, Pundits Say He Faces Uphill Battle With Democrats

Pundits are abuzz over the latest speculation former Vice President Joe Biden could be running in next year’s presidential election.
While speaking at a dinner for the Delaware Democratic Party on Sunday, Biden appeared to jump the gun after mistakenly referring to himself as the most progressive Democrat running for the White House. He caught himself during his comment and attempted to backtrack, but by then the damage was done.
The president later seized on the moment. He took to Twitter to write:
Joe Biden got tongue tied over the weekend when he was unable to properly deliver a very simple line about his decision to run for President. Get used to it, another low I.Q. individual!

The former vice president has not officially confirmed rumors he will run, but his latest flub has fueled speculation that he will. However, a run may not pan out so well for him.
Despite his claims, Biden has appeared to push back against what he refers to as “the new left,” who say he may not be progressive enough.

He may have a lot to answer for considering his past support for causes that have fallen out of favor with Democrats in recent years. During the Miliken v. Bradly case in the 70’s, Biden voted against desegregation on public school buses. Additionally, in the 90’s he also voted in favor of legislation to outlaw gay marriage.

Politicians have said given the changes in his platform, Biden could easily be painted as a ‘flip-flopper.’ This could potentially mean it will be an uphill battle to gain support from both the right and left if he confirms his run.
